Were you reluctant to take on [Much Ado About Nothing]?
My method of coping with a cliff hanger and gap between books in a series:
Step one: Shock.
Step two: Denial.
Step three: Depression.
(A lot of depression…)
Step four: Resentment.
And finally, Step five: Euphoria with the release of the next book:
Repeat as needed.
To the sea, to the sea! The white gulls are crying,
The wind is blowing, and the white foam is flying.
West, west away, the round sun is falling,
Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling,
The voices of my people that have gone before me?
I don’t think many people understand the anger I felt in this scene
I literally felt the rage searing through my body.
To see your most beloved character go through that pain because of the character you most despise is so intense that it feels real.
Whenever anyone says that Harry Potter is just a children’s story, I always point to this scene.
